The Centier Bank Performers of the Week are Crown Point sophomore wrestler Jesse Mendez, Mishawaka senior wrestler Joseph Walker, and Chesterton junior wrestler Evan Bates.

At the IHSAA state wrestling finals held last Friday and Saturday at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Mendez (44-1) claimed the 132-pound title with a 25-13 decision over Matthew Koontz of Perry Meridian. Mendez, who won the 126-pound title a year ago, helped the Bulldogs to a second-place finish with 93.5 points behind state champion Indianapolis Cathedral (102 points).

Walker (37-2) captured the 182-pound championship with a 5-2 win over NorthWood’s Jake Lone, while Bates (45-1) was the 220-pound champ with a 9-0 blanking of William Crider of Harrison (West Lafayette).

The Centier Bank Performer of the Week is open to any male-female student athlete who participates in any IHSAA sanctioned sport and whose school is in th Centier Bank geographic area
