2020 NAIA DII Women’s Basketball Qualifiers and Bracket Announced

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – [Bracket]  The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has officially announced the 32 qualifiers for the 29th annual NAIA Division II Women’s Basketball National Championship. The event will be held March 11-17 at the Tyson Events Center in Sioux City, Iowa.

This year’s field consists of 25 automatic berths and 7 at-large spots. Automatic qualification is given to conference regular-season champions, regular-season runners-up, tournament champions or tournament runners-up depending on the league. At-large teams were determined using the final regular-season Coaches’ Top 25 Poll released today.

 

Qualifier Notes

  • Defending national champions, Concordia (Neb.) head to Sioux City as the No. 1 overall seed in hopes of returning with their second national title. The Bulldogs have an overall record of 31-2.
  • Marian (Ind.) moved up one spot in the final poll to become the No. 2 seed overall heading in to the tournament. The Knights are on a 12 game winning streak with a record of 30-3 heading to Sioux City, Iowa.
  • Twenty-one of the qualifying teams return to the championship from the 2019 field.
  • Seven different institutions in this year’s tournament have won at least one national title. Morningside leads with four national titles (2004, 2005, 2009, 2015).
  • Eight teams have made at least 10 appearances at the national championship. College of the Ozarks (Mo.) has the most appearances with 26 including this year’s appearance. Hastings (Neb.) follows with 20 appearances.
  • Four institutions are making their first-ever trip to the national tournament including Avila (Mo.), Johnson & Wales (Fla.), Ohio Christian and Voorhees (S.C.).
