Taylor Drops Road Contest After 10-Day Hiatus
COLUMBIA, Ky. – The Trojans returned to the field for the first time in 10 days, facing off against Lindsey Wilson on Friday. In a road matchup, TU fell 8-2, which moved its overall record to 8-2.
Despite the loss, Matt Dutkowski brought the highlight of the game with a solo shot for his first career home run. The freshman added another base hit to go two-for-four on the day with a walk.
The Blue Raiders opened up their advantage in the second and third innings. The home team posted four runs on three hits through the two inning stretch.
Jacob Morris logged TU’s second RBI with a single to score Jonathan Foster, which cut the deficit to 4-2 heading into the bottom of the sixth.
Lindsey Wilson notched four additional insurance runs in its last two times at the plate, securing the 8-2 win.
Nick Rusche offered a big performance in the lineup with three hits and a double, extending his hitting streak to 10 games. Rusche led off the seventh frame with a base hit which helped load the bases but all three runners were stranded, as the comeback effort fell short.
Taylor (8-2) will finish off its three-game series at Lindsey Wilson (3-7) with a doubleheader on Saturday at 1:00 pm.
