The New Prairie United School Corporation is pleased to announce the hiring of Casey McKim as our New Head Varsity Football Coach.
McKim brings 12 total years of coaching experience and comes to New Prairie from Valparaiso HS where he served as an Asst. Coach for the past 8 years. Highly respected by his peers, he brings a wealth of experience having served as an Offensive Coordinator and also coached Wide Receivers, Defensive Line, Offensive Line and Linebackers throughout his career. During his time at VHS, the team has won four DAC championships, two Sectionals, two Regionals, one Semi-State and was 5A State Runner up this past season. McKim was also named by the Indiana Football Coaches Association to represent Region 1 as an Asst. Coach in the annual North/South All-Star game this year. He has also served as a FR Basketball Coach at VHS.
McKim is a graduate of Valparaiso High School where he competed as an honor roll multi-sport student-athlete in Football and in Track. During his Sophomore year, VHS fought their way to Indianapolis and the IHSAA Football State Championship game played in the RCA Dome. During his college years, McKim served as a student manager with the Purdue football team evaluating recruiting film, reviewing scouting data, handling equipment, and setting up practices.
Academically, McKim earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Studies Education from Purdue University (Lafayette) where he was named to the Dean’s List all four years. He also earned a Master’s of Science degree in Education Administration from Purdue University (Calumet). While teaching Social Studies, he has been selected as a student’s most influential teacher three times in his career at VHS.
