IUSB Men’s Basketball To Host IU Northwest In CCAC Quarterfinal

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The third-seeded Indiana University South Bend men’s basketball team begins its trek for a Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference title on Wednesday evening, Feb. 26, when the Titans host sixth-seed Indiana University Northwest. Tipoff of the CCAC quarterfinal is slated for 7 p.m. inside the Student Activities Center.

IU South Bend clinched its highest regular season finish in program history after defeating Saint Xavier 87-81 on Saturday, Feb. 22 at home. With the victory, the Titans finished 22-8 overall and 16-6 in the CCAC and improved to a five-game winning streak. 

The Titans conference season was highlighted by convincing victories over No. 4 Olivet Nazarene, 79-60, No. 16 St. Ambrose, 100-78, and Holy Cross, 74-66 during the regular-season. 

IU Northwest enters the tournament as the six seed with an overall record of 17-13 and 13-9 in league play after defeating Judson University, 79-78. 

The quarterfinal showdown will serve as the ninth all-time meeting between the Titans and the RedHawks. IUSB leads the series, 6-2, but split a pair of contests this season. IU South Bend did earn the most recent victory that occurred on Jan. 29 in Gary, Iowa. IUSB garnered an exciting victory, 87-84 in overtime. 

This season marks the first time IU South Bend has appeared in the CCAC tournament since the 2015-16 season that saw the Titans play in the championship matchup against Robert Morris in Arlington Heights, Ill. losing 88-85. 

The winner of Wednesday’s game will advance to the CCAC Tournament semifinal against the winner of the No. 2 Holy Cross / No. 7 St. Ambrose quarterfinal.

The semifinals will take place Friday, Feb. 28 and will be hosted by the highest remaining seed. For more information on the CCAC Tournament,
