Big Ten Announces Suspension of Michigan Hockey Player

ROSEMONT, Ill. – The Big Ten Conference office announced today that Michigan hockey player Johnny Beecher has been suspended for one game, under the conference’s supplemental discipline process, as a result of an incident that occurred in a game against Ohio State on Feb. 1.

The action was taken by the conference after a review of an incident that occurred near the 2:36 mark of the second period and resulted in the player receiving a major penalty for head-butting and a game misconduct. Beecher is ineligible to play in Michigan’s next game against Wisconsin on Feb. 7.

The Big Ten Conference considers this matter concluded.
